Wywhyana Creek in flood. Feb 2nd. 2020

At last, after almost 3 years we have had a decent amount of rain as 73.4mm fell on the 1st and 2nd of February 2020. Not since January 2017 have we had any significant rain and things were looking bleak. Flora and Fauna have been hit very hard and we were looking at implementing alternative water strategies here at Arkaroola Village. However, this rain event has filled the waterholes and provide much needed water in all parts of the sanctuary. Damage to tracks and roads has been moderate considering the amount of water and rock and soil that moved through the landscape over a very short period.
